AKA North worked alongside IWM North for the launch of their new exhibition Yemen: Inside a Crisis. Showcasing around 50 objects and photographs alongside personal stories, the exhibition gives insight into the realities faced by Yemenis every day, as well as their incredible resilience. A central story in the exhibition focuses on food insecurity and economic famine caused by the highly inflated costs of ordinary food items.
One aspect of AKA’s campaign was the distribution of 7,000 free coffee cups across Manchester indicating the exorbitant price of a flat white in Yemen. The cups were intended to prompt Mancunians to consider the true cost of war whilst drinking their morning coffee on the way to work.
